I found a great little book retailer called Green Books in Apple Valley California. Great selection of used books. Helpful staff. Most of the books are all in good shape. I mainly focused on the hardbacks as they are the same price as the paperbacks.
The books were well organized, although it could be organized just a tab bit better. It was a great experience and I will be heading back to Green Books in Apple Valley next month to check out the selection.
I limited myself to only five books. Each book was $3 and I wanted to stay below $20. I probably could have gotten one more book. Green Books in Appley Valley had several books I plan to go back for in the future.
Book Haul from Green Books in Apple Valley
Green Books in Appley Valley had many books that I wanted to buy. I choose two crime novels, with the criminal as the protagonist, which is my favorite type. One historical fiction novel and two Catholic books.
The Last Don by Mario Puzo
I’m a big fan of crime drama. Mario Puzo is one of the big names in criminal protagonists. The Last Don was made into a TV mini-series back in 1997. I did watch it back then. I can’t remember if I enjoyed the movie, but I have read many books by Mario Puzo and loved each one. I hope I am not disappointed.
Fools Die by Mario Puzo
I was able to score two hardbacks from Mario Puzo at Green Books in Appley Valley. I am not sure if I have read Fools Die yet. I may have, but I don’t remember. If I did read it, it was more than fifteen years ago. I am looking forward to this crime thriller.
The Last Kingdom by Bernard Cornwell
I am a big fan of the Netflix series and I enjoy historical fiction. The hero’s journey of Uhtred son of Uhtred has fascinating me. This is one of those series (called the Saxon Stories) that I have been meaning to get to for a long time. I am glad to have found the first book in the series at Green Books in Apple Valley.
Jesus Through the Centuries / Mary Through the Centuries by Jaroslav Pelikan
I am Catholic and I always look for books to learn and strengthen my faith. Next to fiction, the religious shelf always gets my attention; and luckily for me the religious shelf at Green Books in Apple Valley was well stocked.
Learning about the history of Jesus and Mary as depicted in history is an exciting find. This is a combination of two books put together in one volume. From what I can tell a great scholarly read.
A Year With John Paul II: Daily Meditations From His Writings and Prayers; Edited by Father Jerome Vereb
Another Catholic book I found was about John Paul II. This book that was sitting on the shelf at Green Books in Apple Valley has an entry for each day of the year. I can follow along with John Paul II and get inspiration and insight into my Catholic faith.
